YOU CAN
BE AS
BIG AS
YOU WANT
TO BE
This project explores the concept of evolution and progress through a dual portrayal of avocados. One piece, part of the original Fruitful Collection (launched in 2019), measures 54×65cm, while the second is a larger reinterpretation from 2023, measuring 130 × 162 cm.
Through her own experience of learning to scale from smaller to larger canvases, the artist offers a literal and symbolic demonstration of personal growth — showing that anyone has the potential to expand and evolve.
THE INSPIRATION
Presented at the artist’s first solo exhibition, Food for Thought, the avocados were placed a few meters apart so that, from a certain perspective, they appeared to be the same size. It was only by physically moving from the smaller avocado that the viewer could come face-to-face with the larger one.
Accompanied by the evocative slogan “You can be as big as you want to be,” the composition serves as a visual metaphor for personal growth — a process that requires intentional, actionable steps.
EVERYTHING COMES FROM A SEED
Reflecting on the journey from seed to fruition, the avocados symbolize the incremental progress and transformative experiences that shape one’s path toward achieving greater heights in life.
Adding a personal and organic touch, the avocado featured in the picture was grown by the artist herself — from seed — specifically for the exhibition.
