Alina Zaikina (b. 1990) is a Russian-born visual artist based in Barcelona. With a background in communication and creative direction, she spent years building narratives for brands before turning inward—toward painting—as her primary form of expression. Her work explores introspection, emotional memory, and the layered nature of the self, often through textured, organic forms like oyster shells and seeds.
Alina developed her painting skills through early training at an art school during her teenage years, as well as through private mentorships and workshops with professional artists since 2018. Her paintings offer quiet spaces for reflection, inviting viewers to connect with their own inner worlds.
Alina’s works are part of private collections in Europe, the United States, Mexico and Russia.
Empowering familiar objects with new meanings and poetic symbolism, the artist reinterprets the still life tradition by isolating one object at a time and placing it within the abstract space. This deliberate placement allows the object to evolve and resonate with deeper significance without distraction, so that each piece becomes a meditative exploration of form and meaning.
Alina works with a variety of techniques, including oil and acrylic paints, mixed media, charcoal, pastel, spray paint, and epoxy resin. Depending on the subject she is exploring and the visual effect she aims to emphasize, the artist carefully selects the appropriate medium.
Each piece begins with a core concept and a key message. From there, she searches for the metaphorical object that best embodies the idea — followed by the development of the composition and the choice of materials
The artist works from her studio located at C/Mèxic 19, Barcelona, Spain.
